Historian and author Nicholas A. Veronico will explore the San Francisco Bay Area’s pivotal role in World War II shipbuilding,
including Mare Island Naval Shipyard and the many yards that transformed the region into one of the most productive industrial
centers of the war. The program also examines how wartime shipbuilding reshaped the Bay Area and created new opportunities for African Americans and women.
