Dock of Bay set to honor Vallejo’s music scene

Vallejo artists E-40, LaRussell and Baby Bash will perform at the fifth annual Dock of Bay this Saturday

For generations, music artists born and raised in Vallejo have managed to make it big in the industry, from Sly and the Family Stone to E-40 to LaRussell. This year’s Dock of Bay Music Festival is celebrating the names that put Vallejo on the map and bringing them home.

Saturday marks the return of the Dock of Bay Music Festival on Mare Island for a fifth year. Past events have welcomed national and international artists such as Average White Band, The Commodores and Morris Day and The Time, but a new partnership with Good Compenny and a desire to recognize Vallejo’s past makes this year’s event stand out.

“We’ve got to honor some of the greats from the past that came out of Vallejo because Vallejo has a tremendous history,” says Jeff Trager of Frazier Trager Presents, who founded the festival. It was through their partnership with LaRussell’s label Good Compenny that festival organizers were able to bring in their biggest name, E-40, back to his home city.
